Its the classic American long gun, a tool of history and just as much a symbol of the Old West as the six-shooter. The Marlin brand is synonymous with lever-action repeaters. Its a rich tradition, with a heritage stretching back to the Model 1881, Marlin's first centerfire, and the Model 1891, their first rimfire. In fact, Annie Oakley trusted the Model 1891 above all others to demonstrate her legendary marksmanship. Marlin 336BL Features

The Marlin 336 is one of the most highly regarded modern lever-action rifles, and the 336 BL is an improvement over the original.  It is available with a standard or large-loop lever.  This rifle is built with an 18.5 inch barrel that is topped with a hooded front sight and an elevation-adjustable buckhorn style rear sight.  If iron sights aren’t your speed, the receiver is drilled and tapped to accept an optics rail.

Marlin 336BL Capacity

The Marlin 336 BL is chambered in .30-30 winchester and feeds from a fixed tube style magazine with a capacity of 5 rounds.  Cartridges are loaded directly into the magazine tube through the side loading gate located on the right side of the receiver under the ejection port.
Measuring 38 inches long with an unloaded weight of 7.5 pounds, the Marlin 336 BL scores the same in mobility to the other Marlin lever action guns.  Where the differences lie is in the overall handling characteristics.  With a stock that drops further down than other Marlins and the reduced felt recoil that it delivers, recovering for a second shot is much faster.

Marlin 336BL Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The 336 BL has a half-pistol grip integrated into its stock and is available with a standard size or large loop lever with the latter making it much easier to operate when wearing gloves.  The stock and handguard are heavily checkered to allow for a very positive grip when carrying or shooting this rifle.  The stock has a slightly greater drop from the bore axis to reduce the felt recoil, however it does increase the amount of muzzle climb.

Marlin 336BL Fit & Finish

The Marlin 336 BL is manufactured by Ruger and thus is made out of steel parts that are heat treated to an incredible hardness to increase durability,  The steel components are blued to prevent rust and retain surface oil, and the stock and forend are made of laminate hardwood.  Laminated stocks are much more durable over time and use as they are more resistant to cracking and splitting.
