Mossberg 590 Mariner Features

The Mossberg 590 Mariner is an extremely versatile pump action shotgun that is designed to be weather resistant.  This shotgun is built with a 20 inch stainless steel barrel and has a stainless receiver that is drilled and tapped to accept an optics mount, or it can be left as-is allowing the user to employ the groove over the receiver with the front sight bead.

Mossberg 590 Mariner Ballistics

Mossberg 590 Mariner Capacity

The Mossberg 590 Mariner is available in both 12 and 20 gauge and feeds from a fixed magazine tube that can hold 8 shells of standard-length ammo or 7 rounds of 3-inch shells.  These shells are loaded directly into the magazine tube through the loading port in the bottom of the receiver.

Measuring 41 inches long with an unloaded weight of 7 pounds, the 590 Mariner is one of the easiest pump action shotguns to take out in the rain.  Whether you’re out deer hunting, competing in a 3-gun match, or you’re planning on losing it in a boating accident, this shotgun is very easy to carry.  Its ammo capacity and short overall length also make it a popular firearm for home defense purposes.

Mossberg 590 Mariner Ergonomics

Ergonomics
As far as the controls go, the Mossberg 590 Mariner is identical to the standard 590, 500 and Maverick 88.  It can be fitted with a traditional style stock or because it’s a 500 series gun, it can be set up with a pistol grip, adjustable stock, folding stock, you name it.  The handguard is small to prevent it getting caught on surrounding objects and it’s ribbed to allow a more positive grip.

Mossberg 590 Mariner Fit & Finish

The Mosberg 590 Mariner is built on an alloy frame and has all of its metal components coated in Mossberg’s “Marinecote” finish that makes it nearly impervious to environmental damage.  All of the black components are made of a high-strength composite that allows the user to hunt in the rain or wade in puddles without causing anything to rust.
