The Ruger® 77/357 is a fast-handling, hard-hitting bolt-action rifle well suited for hunting deer or hogs in heavy cover where quick shots are taken at relatively short range. The 77/357 comes equipped with open sights; the front sight is dovetailed into a very secure banded and soldered base, and the rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation. Integral scope mounts are machined directly into the receiver, which eliminate any chance of the base loosening under recoil; and stainless steel scope rings come with the rifle. The 77/357 operates with a 5-shot rotary magazine that fits flush with the stock at the rifle's balance point, aiding in the lightweight rifle's ease of handling. A 3-position safety allows shooter to load and unload the rifle with the safety engaged in the mid position, and locks the bolt solidly when the safety is all the way to the rear. With a synthetic stock and stainless steel barrel and receiver, the 77/357 endures the worst weather conditions. The Ruger 77/357 Bolt-Action Rifle, with its 18.5" barrel, shoots the proven .357 magnum cartridge approximately 200-400 fps faster than a revolver, making it adequate for big game hunting and personal defense.

Ruger 77/357 Capacity

The Ruger 77/357 is chambered in .357 Magnum and has an internal fixed magazine capable of holding up to 5 rounds.  Due to the bolt action of the Ruger 77, this gun can safely load, cycle and fire .38 Special ammo, a huge benefit for people looking to do some softer-recoiling target shooting.

The Ruger 77/357 measures 38.5 inches long and has an unloaded weight of 5.5 pounds making it one of the lightest hunting carbines with relatively low recoil thanks to its medium-power caliber.  The smooth contours do well to prevent the gun from getting caught on dense brush making it an excellent option for small and medium game hunting.

Ruger 77/357 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Ruger 77/357 uses a composite stock that has an incorporated half-pistol grip with a comb that provides a comfortable cheek weld whether you’re using the iron sights or a scope.  The bolt handle sits directly over the trigger for an easy transition when cycling the action, and the gun is balanced with its center of gravity sitting at the front of the receiver.

Ruger 77/357 Fit & Finish

Ruger makes some of the most durable rifles on the market by hardening their metal components to unbelievably strong levels.  This is seen in their Mini-14 series of rifles and their pistols, and the 77/357 is no different.  Stainless-steel and high-carbon steel receivers, bolts and barrels are all hardened to prevent damage from weather and wear, and carbon steel components are all deeply blued to prevent damage from weather and wear.
