I can get the gun apart easy enough to clean, but I can't get it back together. I put the slide back on but I can't get the takedown lever to go back in all the way.

I ran into this problem as well. Make sure your barrel is lined up so the pin lines up with that U shaped groove under he barrel, and also push the barrel back a bit. That usually helps me get it back together.
