Fightlite MCR Features

The Fightlite MCR was designed to fit on an AR15 lower receiver and allows the gun to accept belted ammo.  Its intent was to be a replacement for the M249 SAW as it would weigh less than half of the FN-made gun, and it even has the ability to rapidly swap its barrels.  It didn’t see adoption specifically because it fires from the closed bolt, and a hot barrel can cause cook-offs.

Fightlite MCR Ballistics

Fightlite MCR Capacity

The Fightlite MCR is chambered in 5.56x45mmNATO (or .223 Remington if you measure in twelfths) and can feed from all standard AR15 magazines giving you all of the capacity options you can get in a normal AR, or you can feed it with ammo connected by M27 links.  At that point, the only limit to your capacity is your imagination.
With an unloaded weight of 9.5 pounds and an overall length under 36 inches, the MCX can be described as a heavy AR (+2 pounds) or a very light SAW (-8 Pounds).  The MCX is by far the lightest possible setup for a belt-fed 5.56 and possibly the shortest as well.  This gives it mobility that far surpasses any other current-issue LMG, and this gave the gun the nickname of “The SAW Killer”

Fightlite MCR Ergonomics

Ergonomics
Since the lower half of this gun is an M4, all of those controls are the same.  The only difference in controls for the upper half is in the side-mounted, non-reciprocating charging handle.  The MCR is fitted with a quad-rail style handguard which allows the user to attach front grips and other accessories to help control the gun during automatic fire.
The upper itself does not make it a machine gun…that’s all dependant on the lower.

Fightlite MCR Fit & Finish

The MCR is made entirely from machined parts.  It has a 4150 Vanadium cold hammer forged barrel, a Carpenter 158 bolt, a carrier made of 8620 steel alloy, and aluminum components made from 7075-T6 Aircraft grade aluminum.  In semi-automatic, with quality match grade ammunition, it is completely reasonable to expect 2MOA groups.
