Kahr CW40 Features

The Kahr CW40 is a small polymer framed, striker fired pistol that operates on a Browning style short recoil action with a 3.6 inch tilting barrel.  The stainless steel slide is topped with a windage-adjustable rear sight that is angled to improve performance when carrying this pistol concealed.  This pistol does not have any external safeties to ensure the fastest draw.

Kahr CW40 Capacity

The Kahr CW40, as its name suggests, is chambered in .40 Smith & Wesson and feeds from a single-stack magazine capable of holding 6 rounds.  The feed ramp leading up to the chamber includes geometry that ensures proper feeding of any bullet type.  Due to the compact design, the CW40 is able to safely fire +P ammo, however the low slide mass can leave you with misfeeds and jams as the timing is thrown out of sync.

Kahr CW40 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The CW40 has pretty reasonable ergonomics that include grip contours that are fairly modern.  The sides of the grip have a gravel-like texture while the front and back of the grip have a square grip pattern that really digs into the hand for maximum control.  The recoil spring is rather heavy, however the grip serrations that flank the rear sight provide plenty of traction when manually cycling the action.

Kahr CW40 Fit & Finish

The CW40 has metal components that are incredibly durable, and most of these are made of stainless steel making them incredibly resistant to corrosion and impervious to rusting.  The most often detraction against the CW40 is its polymer frame which, although strong and durable, is easily hand-worn to a glossy surface, and the removable plate that covers the trigger mechanism can be an eyesore to some.

Fit and Finish

Kahr CW40 Concealability

Concealability
The CW40 and CW9 are identical in size and can both be easily concealed through the employment of a good holster and slightly-loose clothing.  The rounded contours and the mild grip texturing reduce discomfort when holstered, and these also improve the ease of draw since there’s fewer points where the gun can catch if you need to whip it out in an emergency.
