Apparently the one you are viewing is .45 acp but the Colt Competition Model is available in 9mm too. I know I have one. A real nice, soft recoiling gun with great accuracy. Nice to have choices.... or you could get one of each.

1911 is the series model of the arm itself. As in mainly what you cosmetically see with your eyes. It is a GOV/FED arm that was commonly used in wars which is why the 1911 series is so popular. It is even used today as a side arm for basic military person
